Drinking Knowledge (Free verse) by gregsamsa222
Coffee goes well with physics
But only without cream and sugar.
Physics takes it black.
Add cream for western lit,
Sugar, too, for Elizabethan. If youâre
Studying contemporary, however, you
Might want to stick to black.
Geometry needs no drink.
Geometry only needs a bagel,
Preferably cinnamon raisin.
No one knows what goes best
With the study of religion.
It is best left a mystery, I suppose.
A latte for philosophy, and only in
A paper cup, no lid, plenty of foam.
Water for anatomy, seltzer for economics.
Nothing goes well with tea, which is why
The elderly sit in tight bunches, sipping
From teacups and speaking of absence.
The only things that compliment whisky
Are the Romantics and world historyâ
Excepting of course western civ, which
Requires a strong mixed drink made up of
Fruit and rum. Beer for mythology. Wine
For the law. And when you study ethics,
Iâd recommend a heroin shot and a nice blueberry scone.
