the smallest box will do (Free verse) by elderking

while packing up the leavings of our four year you-screw-me, I came across some things you left and I've shipped them C.O.D. I packed the lack of self esteem you fed so graciously. you'll find it near the bottom keeping your respect some company. though tarnished, you'll find useful every truth you shared with me. (to fill up space, I had to add your idea of fidelity). I didn't forget to include your trust (it never fit properly) I left it where it's always been, hidden in your jealousy. and lastly, here's the pieces of the "me" required by you. I found them scarred and battered, by all the "happiness" we knew. and so the years are finally packed, (it's taken weeks to gather all) standing back, i have to laugh "that box seems so damned small."

Thanks! I'm glad you liked it.
C.O.D. a term used by the Post Office some years ago. It was a service (Cash On Delivery) where no mailing or shipping costs were paid until the pkg reached it's destination. Who ever recieved the pkg paid all costs immediately upon delivery.
Definitely shows my age knowing that stuff!
