Yield (Lyric) by wilco

Dear Mary, Your maudlin ways are wearing thin and its coming apart at the seams of your dress while the stars count the people below. Dear Sadie, I’d like to wait a little while before we start again until you’ve had time to sober up and think about how tonight would end. Dear waitress, I’d like to get my change so I can change myself and be better than I was when I came through the door. After all I wanted was your love and a safe place to hang my head I won’t fall asleep in your arms wondering why we don’t talk anymore. I’m so tired of fighting and everybody needs a place to rest Dear Father, I’d like to give away my cape I didn’t realize what it means to be Superman these days. That’s just a game that children play. Dear Jesus, please don’t think me a waste just because I’ve wasted so many days since I left her heart beating beneath that cross in time with church bells singing songs of faith and things that I don’t need and fall asleep asking why God and I don’t talk much anymore.

Dear Wilco,
In a hotmail message, someone might have suggested a Memphis drink. If so, she was adding a friendly reminder that poetry is good as basis for talk and cross check of notions like these, which I might add are pretty good.
