A Sinner’s Prayer (Free verse) by Dovina

O Thou who made with pitfalls The world I wander in Would surely not Impute my fall to sin Or require sorrowful contrition For mistakes made so enticing. No loving God would sit so smug, Take pleasure in my groveling. I conclude it must be in Your will Not to hear my sorrowful calls But to watch a learner navigate Pitfalls with a few less falls

Don't give up the fight! As a very young child, I was unable to wipe my bum. Grown ups had to do it for me. But I kept at it, and one day I managed to do it all on my own, with only a 15% residue! Knowing you're plastered in shit is the first step on the road to becoming less plastered in shit. And you never know: maybe in a year or two you'll be able to wipe your own bum just like me! Now that's a cause worth fighting for if ever I saw one.
